QR code for your business card

A business card with a vCard QR lets you share contact details without typing. Your name, phone and email are encoded directly in the pattern, without a QR Permanent redirect server. The available action depends on the phone’s reader: test contact import on your audience’s devices before printing.

The higher it is, the better the code survives stains and creases.

A QR code carries redundancy: the reader rebuilds modules that are stained, creased or hidden. The higher the level, the more damage it takes, but the bigger the code gets. At the same print size, each module therefore becomes smaller.

Fill in the form to generate your QR code.

  1. 1. Fill in your vCard fields

First name, last name, company, title, phone, email, and website are the fields people read most. Fill in what you want to share; empty fields are ignored. Avoid unusual special characters in your company name. Some older Android readers display them incorrectly.

  2. 2. Download as SVG or PDF

Discuss SVG or PDF with your printer; PNG can also work at sufficient resolution. Start with a 3 cm proof, including the margin, and preserve four clear modules around the pattern. Adjust after testing.

  3. 3. Test on both iOS and Android

Scan with the native Camera app on an iPhone and on an Android device. Verify that the contact saves correctly with all fields. If your name includes accented characters or non-ASCII letters, test UTF-8 encoding in particular.

  4. 4. Place the QR on the back of the card

Keep the front for your visual identity. On the back, the QR can be larger and paired with a short label: 'Scan to save my contact.' Avoid dark backgrounds: a light background with dark modules is required for reliable scanning.

Will this vCard QR code ever expire?

The file has no expiry date: contact details are encoded in the QR. They remain the exported details and do not update when your phone number or address changes. The printed pattern must remain readable.

Why not just put a LinkedIn link on my card?

A LinkedIn link can present your profile, while a vCard carries contact fields directly. LinkedIn access and available actions depend on the service and phone. Choose according to the action you want the recipient to take.

Which vCard fields actually matter on a business card?

The most-used fields are: first + last name (FN), phone (TEL), email (EMAIL), and website (URL). Title and company are useful for professional contacts. Postal address is often omitted: offices change more often than phone numbers.

Is the vCard format compatible with all phones?

vCard is widely used, but reading and import vary between phones and readers. Test accented characters and fields on your target devices. A QR link to a contact page is an alternative when direct import is unavailable.
